Fordyce Fields is a small veteran owned hay farm, located in Bolivar, Tennessee (between Memphis and Jackson). We focus on delivering quality hay to local farms and ranches from memphis to jackson, and surrounding areas. We pride ourselves in giving back to our community and helping local farms and ranches thrive by offering quality hay at discount prices.
We use regenerative farming to build and maintain healthy, sustainable soil that produces nutrient-rich hay for your livestock.
We’re a little different than your typical hay farm. We are not looking to be millionaires from this, nor are we wanting to build an empire. We want to cover our costs plus a couple dollars to allow us to make improvements to our land and equipment if needed. We don’t mark up our hay outside of that. We believe that by keeping prices incredibly low, we can help other farms and ranches offer lower prices for beef and dairy to keep the power in the hands of the local market rather than corporations.
Projects
We’re continuously working to improve the farm. From soil improvements to structural improvements, there’s always a project in the works. here are some of them.
Pergola over raised garden beds
We have eight raised garden beds over a 20 x 30 sq ft area. This project is putting a screened in pergola over it to protect it from bugs and birds
Chicken Coop stronghold
After a few rounds with foxes last season, and many lessons learned, we are fortifying our chicken coop before getting more chickens. This will be their stronghold against the scavengers
